Meter-Lab, Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Large Binocular Telescope Observatory (LBTO), located in Arizona, USA, on February 26, 2025.
LBTO is an observatory that operates the world’s first giant binocular telescope for astronomical observation. Under this MOU, Meter-Lab will apply its spectrally based interferometry technology to support alignment and active optical control of LBTO’s large-scale optical systems. Through this collaboration, Meter-Lab will conduct research aimed at operating spectroscopic interferometers in real time even under the variable environmental conditions typical of observatory sites.
This partnership is expected to enable Meter-Lab’s spectroscopic interferometry technology to be used for real-time precision alignment and positioning not only at LBTO but also in a range of space missions.
